some of my classmates and i took the train to beaune, rented bikes, and toured the beautiful vineards.they finished with the harvest just 4 days before we went so the majority of the grapes were in the fermentation process.
the odor was very pungent and distinct.
that smell will forever remind me of this trip.
we biked up to independent wineries and asked to taste and tour their establishments.
everyone we talked to lived above their wineries and were involved in all stages of the wine making process.
this was i think my favorite experience in france so far.
